Hello and welcome to my page. My name is Karen and I am a student counsellor, in my final year, studying at Devon and Cornwall Counselling Hub in Plymouth. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which for you means that I adhere to their ethics, policies, and procedures to work safely and with care at all times.
Following my higher education in Public Relations, my passion for meeting and working with people led me to a counselling journey while working with senior school pupils in a School Medical Centre. Working with a variety of problems and issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Stress, and Self-harm, I have committed my personal education to counselling and I continue my personal, professional development to enable me to support people with their mental wellbeing and life problems. I have successfully completed training in suicide prevention, drug and alcohol misuse, mental wellbeing, mental health awareness and working with the soul.
The counselling approach I use is primarily Person-Centered – putting you at the heart of the work, supporting you without any judgement, with kindness as well as respecting your values and beliefs. I also work interactively, which means that we can work with different theories and techniques that suit you and that you are comfortable with.
You have already taken the first step towards overcoming any overwhelming issues that you are experiencing and I look forward to meeting with you on the next steps of your counselling journey.
