Hi, my name is Claire,
My background is a BSc (HONS) in Psychology. I have worked in a rehabilitation unit in the MOD for injured military personnel. I have also spent some time as a family liaison officer for Child Maintenance Options and working for the DWP.
I love being a counsellor and take pride in my work, continuously working on my practice. My counselling style is warm and interactive.
Every life obstacle a person can face can impact one person differently to the next.
I have training in CBT, Gestalt, Person Centred and Transpersonal approaches to counselling and so can tailor the work to you and your needs.
I passionately believe in the importance of working with you as an individual and being able to provide a safe space for you to share with me.
In the model of counselling I use, I will be working with you to consider meaningful connections to the whole of self, considering Mind, Emotions, Body and Soul (this can have different meanings for different people). With an aim of together, gaining insight into the paths that led you to become the person you are today. How you can use this awareness to challenge patterns of behaviour, relationship problems, anxiety, low mood, anger, depression, past trauma or anything else that is becoming an obstacle to your life and wellbeing.
I am a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework and codes of practice.
It’s a brave step to identify that you may need some support and I very much look forward to meeting with you and working together.
