Hi, my name is Maria,
I started working as part of a pastoral team within a school setting where I would support young children and adults with their social and emotional needs, anxieties, mental health, and well-being. I have been a support network for staff and parents of the school where I found an interest in counselling support which has led me to train as a counsellor.
I have undertaken my own counselling which has helped me with my own previous experiences in my life which I have struggled with. This has helped me understand how I had been feeling and helped me move forward through the challenging times. It has allowed me to help myself and to become more self-aware of my thoughts and feelings. While receiving my own counselling it has helped me see through the eyes of the individual being counselled and has allowed me to understand the feelings that a client may feel during their sessions.
I work using a person-centred approach which focuses on supporting and empowering individuals. With a genuine commitment to understand the individual’s unique experiences, feelings, and perspectives. I create a safe and non-judgmental space for self-exploration and personal growth.
I follow the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework, and this allows me to work professionally and safely. I undertake monthly supervision for my own well-being to ensure that I am fully focused on the individual and their best interests.
I look forward to supporting you.
I look forward to meeting with you very soon.
