Hello, my name is Nicky.
I have always been passionate about helping people. Previously I have worked within Human Resources for local businesses which has enabled me to deal with a variety of people with different challenges. This experience has given me skills working in a confidential environment and the ability to adapt to different situations and individuals along with dealing with complex issues and concerns. I have also worked as a Mental Health First Aider supporting colleagues with their Mental Health and well-being and problems in their lives such as anxiety, bereavement, depression, and suicidal thoughts. By being there for them, they had someone they could turn to, and I was able to listen and find the right ongoing support for them.
This natural desire and passion for helping others, sparked an interest in wanting to work in Counselling so I could support people further on a more personal level. I am currently completing my diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
I use an integrative approach, which means I have a variety of techniques and theories in my toolbox to enable me to adapt my approach to suit everyone’s needs. I offer a warm, friendly, non-judgmental, and empathic approach which creates a relaxed and safe environment to explore your thoughts and feelings. I am a student member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and adhere to their ethical framework, I am also DBS checked. This ensures that I work ethically, professionally, and safely.
For me, our relationship is key, so to ensure that you feel comfortable, in our first session we can explore if I am the right person for you to work with. I know first-hand how difficult it can be to take that step to ask for help, but once you are ready, I look forward to welcoming you and going on your journey together.
