Hi, I’m Stacey, an experienced integrative therapist and Director at Horizon Counselling.

I support individuals and couples who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship struggles, and emotional overwhelm.

My work is grounded in helping people feel more secure in themselves and more connected in their relationships, because I know firsthand how hard that can be when life feels heavy, confusing, or disconnected.

Why I do this work:

I didn’t become a therapist because I had all the answers, I became one because I didn’t.

For a long time, I found myself repeating the same painful patterns in relationships. I knew I wanted connection, safety, and emotional closeness but I didn’t know how to create it. At my lowest point, I felt exhausted, lost, and suicidal. That crisis moment forced me to look inward, not just outward.

What I truly wanted, a healthy, emotionally safe relationship had to start with me.

Therapy became the space where I began to understand myself, my patterns, and my pain. It gave me back my self-worth, my voice, and the tools to build something different. That’s why I do this work now, because I know what it feels like to be stuck in survival mode, and I know how powerful it is to be truly seen, understood, and supported.

My background:

Before becoming a therapist, I trained and worked as a Learning Disability Nurse, spending many years in the NHS and wider healthcare system. I supported people with complex emotional needs across various mental health services and that compassion-led, practical experience still shapes the way I work today.

I don’t just sit and listen. I collaborate, reflect, and walk alongside my clients as they explore real change.

How I work:

I specialise in attachment-based psychotherapy, which means I focus on how your early emotional experiences and relationships shape the way you connect, cope, and relate — with others and with yourself.

These deep-rooted patterns often sit beneath issues like:

  • Anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and chronic stress
  • Depression and low mood
  • Communication breakdown and relationship issues
  • Low self-worth, poor boundaries, and identity struggles
  • Grief, loss, emotional disconnection
  • Repeating patterns and inner conflict

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing on a range of therapeutic models to meet you where you are. I work at a pace that feels safe and respectful of your story, whether you come to therapy on your own or with a partner.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to start.

A little more about me:

Outside the therapy room, I’m a mum and part of a busy, outdoorsy family. We love walking on Dartmoor, kayaking, and cycling — nature and movement play a big role in how I stay grounded. I’m also a firm believer in practising what I offer. I continue to undertake my own personal therapy and I value growth, reflection, and emotional accountability. It helps me show up with integrity, presence, and compassion in every session.

Ready to take the next step?

If you’re feeling lost, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, therapy can help you come home to yourself. Whether you’re looking to better understand your past, improve your relationships, or simply feel more like you again, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
